Apps and websites are littered with text, and when you read, you experience the words as if spoken. This voice is every bit as real as color or motion on a digital screen β€” it’s an illusion of our making, and it’s there to be designed. Words are often the most important design element in a product, but designers rarely handle them with the same care or conviction that we have for visual patterns. We can do better. In the spirit of Dieter Rams, Benjamin proposes a series of simple principles to help us design better with words. He finds lessons in neuroscience, fairy tales, and examples from his work at Medium.
